In short: no account, no ads, no analytics or tracking, no access to microphone, camera, location or contacts. We collect no personal data from children. Chapters 1 and 2 are free. A whole book is a one-time purchase of €4.99 (or the local price shown before purchase) – no subscription. One purchase covers one family on up to 5 devices at the same time. Purchases are only possible in the parents' area. The statutory right of withdrawal applies.

Privacy

Server. When pages and audio are loaded, our server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested address, browser and device type). These logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest (legitimate interest in secure operation, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The server is hosted by IONOS SE in Germany; encrypted backups are stored with Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. All content, including fonts and audio, is loaded from our own server.

On the device. The app stores only what it needs: chosen language and stamps in the Fixer Pass. After a purchase also a random device ID, the unlock code with an unlock token (also as a technically necessary cookie “bo_band1”) and the unlocked chapters, so they work offline. You can delete this at any time in the browser settings or by uninstalling the app.

Purchases. In the browser our reseller Paddle.com Market Limited (Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, UK) sells as merchant of record and processes payment and billing data under its own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal/privacy). The Paddle checkout is only loaded when you tap “Buy” in the parents' area. We receive the transaction ID and your email address. To show the price in your currency our server asks Paddle for the local price using your IP address; nothing is stored. In the Android app purchases go through Google Play (Google Ireland Limited); we only receive a purchase token, no payment data and no email address. For each purchase we store the unlock code and book, transaction ID or purchase token, for Paddle purchases the email address and language (to send the code), and the unlocked devices (random ID, device type, last use). Legal basis: performance of contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Emails are sent via gigi@gigi.band at IONOS SE.

Voices. The stories were voiced with synthetic voices (ElevenLabs). Only our texts were processed, no user data.

Your rights. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR): write to servicedesk@gigi.band. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Terms of use

Service. An interactive book for children aged 6+ and their parents: stories, workshop labs, tool lessons, work orders and notes for parents in five languages with audio. Chapters 1 and 2 of Book 1 are free. The remaining chapters of a book are unlocked by buying that book. Each book is sold separately.

Purchase. Only adults may purchase, and only in the parents' area (protected by a math question). In the browser the seller is Paddle.com Market Limited (merchant of record); Paddle's buyer terms also apply (paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms). In the Android app, Google Play's terms also apply. Price per book: €4.99 incl. VAT; outside the euro area the local price shown before purchase applies. One-time purchase, no subscription. You receive an unlock code by email (browser purchases).

Licence. A simple, non-transferable right to use the purchased book privately within your family on up to 5 devices at the same time. Reinstalling does not use a slot; when another device is added, the one unused the longest frees its slot. Do not publish the code or share it outside your family. Content, characters, drawings and audio may not be copied or distributed; printing for your own use at home is allowed.

Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU, the EEA or the United Kingdom you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving reasons. The right of withdrawal may expire early if you expressly agreed at checkout that the content is provided immediately and you are already using the book – details are in Paddle's buyer terms or Google Play's terms.

Requesting a refund. Browser purchases directly with Paddle at paddle.net (find your purchase with the email address you used at checkout); Android purchases via Google Play (order history in the Play Store); or write to us at servicedesk@gigi.band with the purchase email address or unlock code. Refunds go back to the original payment method. After a refund the unlock code is blocked and the book's chapters are locked again.

Safety. The Fixer traffic light shows what a child may do alone (green), where an adult should be nearby and check (yellow) and what only an adult does or checks (red). The instructions do not replace parental supervision. Brakes, steering and wheels are always checked by an adult; if in doubt, take the bike to a workshop.

Availability and liability. We aim for constant availability but cannot guarantee it. Unlocked chapters keep working offline. We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence, injury to life, body or health and under product liability law; for slight negligence only for breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to foreseeable, typical damage. Statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Law. German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Questions: servicedesk@gigi.band.
